artwork to empower emotional wellbeing by Matilda Wentzel

“Golden Body” Watercolor & Acrylic Painting by Matilda Wentzel

It's been a long time coming till I've felt comfortable drawing naked figures, let alone posting them publicly. I even lost a friend over the matter. How could such a natural thing be a moral issue? How could it be worth splitting ways over?

We all have bodies. These precious vessels carry our consciousness.

Something worth celebrating.

We have all the power to control our inner worlds of thought and emotion. Yet some things cannot be changed, like the appearance of the body at least not drastically (we certainly do our fair share of changing its appearance. Currently I have braces, how odd.) How odd to hide the body under clothing.

How odd to have a body at all. I look at myself in the mirror and wonder with surprise, "hum...I imagined I looked quite different." I feel different than I look. I feel like this golden girl’s arms are being morphed with the music through dance!

How wonderful to have a body to be able to dance with.

We are so much more than just a body.
